The University of Mary Washington Welcomes International Students!
The international community at UMW greatly enriches the cultural, intellectual, and social life of the University. The Center for International Education (CIE) is aware of the demands associated with studying, working, and living in another country and is available to assist international students in matters related to these demands. Specifically, CIE is here to answer questions about your immigration status, academics, employment, housing, health insurance, medical care, social security, income tax regulations, and personal concerns.
CIE also provides international students the opportunity to engage in American cultural activities and events. CIE organizes some on and off-campus cultural enrichment activities, and we also encourage international students to join activities sponsored by the Student Activities and Engagement (SAE) office. Together, we try to facilitate multiple cross-cultural experiences between international and domestic students. Some examples of past activities include excursions to Washington D.C., Colonial Williamsburg, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, Apple Picking, Washington National’s baseball game, and the “Halloween Haunt” at a regional amusement park.
