Guatemala Info Session @ Monroe rm 240

Information sessions will be held next week for the Spring Break trip to Guatemala. The focus of the program is sustainable development, and the empowerment of young women through environmental education and agroecology. We will be hosted by Community Cloud Forest Conservation, staying at an agroecology center, surrounded by the cloud forest of the Sierra Yalijux.
The course (GEOG 361) yields 3 credits in the GEOG, INAF, and WGST majors, and Environmental Sustainability minor, is an Honors course, counts as Diverse and Global Perspectives, and the Experiential Learning/Beyond the Classroom requirement. Students in any major may participate.

Scholarships Open for Spring Trips – UMW Abroad Scholarships

The Center for International Education (CIE) administers a number of scholarships for students studying abroad.  In addition, we have also listed other UMW study abroad scholarships administered by different departments on campus.  Please contact the appropriate administrating department for information on their deadlines and how to apply.

  • For students studying abroad in the winter break or spring term, the application is open from October 1st – 20th. Awards will be announced in late November.

The education abroad fair is the time to explore your options. We’ve got a lot of approved abroad programs and a lot of peer advisors and international school reps who are excited to tell you about their experiences and their programs! ✈️
 
It’s a really nice chance to explore what your options are when it comes to experiences abroad, whether it be through an internship, research, a volunteer trip, exchange program, or just spending a semester at an international university through a UMW approved program.

☀️Curious about UMW’s summer faculty led programs in Spain? Join us to have your questions answered! Led by Dr. Jose A. Sainz (jsainz@umw.edu) and Dr. Marisa Martinez-Mira (mmira@umw.edu).

Dr. Jose Sainz and Dr. Marisa Martinez-Mira lead this program at the Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao, a bustling, friendly, and beautiful city in the Basque Country on the coast of northern Spain. Additional UMW Visiting Teaching Faculty for 2027 include Dr. Surupa Gupta from the UMW Department of Political Science and International Affairs.  Dr. Gupta will be offering a class in the 3-week summer program.

This tr is open to all majors, so anyone considering spending their summer in Spain traveling with their fellow eagles is welcome to join the information session.
