Prospective Students
Degree-Seeking Applicants
- Apply to UMW through the Undergraduate Admissions Office or the Graduate Admissions Office.
- Receive your acceptance letter and pay your enrollment deposit.
- Request your I-20 from UMW.
- Need a new I-20? Submit the I-20 Request Form . (Deadlines are June 15 to begin studies in the fall semester and October 15 to begin studies in the spring semester.)
- Transferring from another school in the U.S.? Submit the SEVIS Transfer I-20 Form. (Deadlines are July 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester.)
- Your proof of finances should show the:
Exchange Applicants
- Consult your home university advisor and be nominated to participate in the UMW Exchange Program.
- UMW has exchange programs with the following universities: Lingnan University, Hong Kong; CEFAM, France; ISCPA, France; MICEFA, France; University of Reading, England; Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Italy; Universität Erfurt, Germany; Akita International University, Japan; and Northwest University, China; ADA University, Azerbaijan; UNYP, Czech Republic;
- UMW does not issue I-20s or DS-2019s to international students in the non-degree status category who are NOT part of an official exchange program.
- Submit the International Exchange Student Application, along with proof of finance to cover the International Exchange Student Estimated Cost of Attendance. (Application deadlines are April 30 to begin studies in the fall semester and October 30 to begin studies in the spring semester.)
- Receive your acceptance packet.
- Review your acceptance materials and the Admitted International Student website to complete your “Before You Arrive Checklist.”
