Course Registration*
Please enter the courses you would like to take during your study term. Registration for fall and spring semester students begins in July and mid-November, respectively. Exchange students will work with an academic advisor to select courses. You can expect to enroll in 1-2 upper level courses in your field of study, and should plan to take 2-3 courses outside of your field of study. Please take a look at the prior year’s Course Schedule to see what might be offered in your study term.

The housing estimates are based on a double-occupancy in standard university residence hall. International exchange students are required to live on campus for the duration of their program. Housing costs will vary depending on your room assignment. For example, the cost for a “single” room will be higher than the standard double room rate.

Meal Plan*
Meal expenses are based on the 225 meal block plan, which provides 15 meals per week, plus $200 in Flex Dollars which can be used at any campus dining facility. Campus Dining Services will be closed during all campus breaks: Thanksgiving, Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer breaks.

Mandatory Accident & Illness Insurance*
J-1 Exchange Visitors are required to have accident & illness insurance for the duration of their program dates. The estimated cost of insurance is based on your age. If you are 25 years old, or older, contact CIE for current rates. CIE will email you instructions on how to self-enroll. If you do not provide our office with proof of enrollment prior to your arrival, CIE will enroll you and charge the amount to your UMW account. You will be responsible for paying this amount by the deadline established by UMW Student Accounts.
- Rates for 24 years and under for one semester – $297
- Rates for 24 years and under for one academic year – $665
