Spend your summer in France with Professor Kimberley Kinsley of the College of Business, in partnership with the American Business School of Paris. Discover French business culture and learn key skills to successful international business interactions in the context of this bustling cultural metropolis.
NO FRENCH LANGUAGE SKILLS REQUIRED! AccommodationsIncluded in the estimated cost of the program listed on this page are single-occupancy rooms at Republic with no meals included. Students will be provided linens and towels and the cost includes a once per week cleaning of the apartment in addition to internet access. Housing is located within walking distance to the ABS campus. Students should plan to arrive in Paris on May 21, 2021 to move into their residence before classes begin on May 26, 2021. CourseworkStudents will earn 6 transfer credits for two 3-credit courses at the American Business School of Paris. Students will take a Fashion Law and Ethics course with Professor Kinsley and an additional 3-credit course offered at ABS. ABS courses may include: Organizational Behavior, Project Management, Consumer Behavior, Communications/Speech, Doing Business in Asia, Photography through the Parisian Lens, Learning to Fail, Sustainable Business, and Digital Marketing (subject to availability). Students may also choose to partake in an extension program titled “Career & Culture” from July 5 – July 16, 2021 to earn an extra 3 credits. The extension program additional cost includes housing and tuition and is estimated at $1500, to be paid directly to ABS. The objectives of this extension program are to help students leverage their time in Paris and expose students to areas that they would normally not have access to – cultural, language, career development, and more. This course satisfies the Experiential Learning/Beyond the Classroom or Global Inquiry/Diverse and Global Perspectives general education requirement by contract with the professor only. Requirements & PrerequisitesThere are no specific prerequisites for this program. Students must maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA in order to participate. As per UMW credit transfer policies, a grade of C or above is required for courses taught abroad to transfer back to UMW. This program is open to all UMW students regardless of major or year of study. It is also open to non-UMW students.
