The Center for International Education recommends that each student have a personalized medical consultation prior to international travel.

This program requires a moderate level of activity, including significant walking on cobble stone and standing in exhibitions.

Spend your spring break in Austria and Hungary, guided by Dr. Marcel Rotter with the Modern Languages and Literatures Department and Dr. Rosemary Jesionowski of UMW’s Art and Art History Department. Visit historic sites in Vienna and Budapest and surrounding areas as you study the history of 20th-century antisemitism under the German Third Reich.  Visit the program’s blog for more detailed information.

  • Visit former concentration camps and Holocaust memorial sites.
  • Discover the breathtaking art, architecture, and culture of Austria and Hungary’s most famous cultural landmarks.
