International Services

Welcome to the University of Mary Washington!

The international community at UMW greatly enriches the cultural, intellectual, and social life of the University. The Center for International Education (CIE) is aware of the demands associated with studying, working, and living in another country and is available to assist international students in matters related to their immigration status, academics, employment, housing, health insurance, medical care, social security, income tax regulations, and personal concerns.

CIE provides international students the opportunity to engage in American cultural activities and events.  The InterLink Mentor Program, connects each incoming international student with a UMW student counterpart to develop friendships and encourage participation in a series of cultural enrichment activities both on and off-campus.  Some examples of cultural enrichment activities include excursions to Washington DC and Colonial Williamsburg, the rodeo, the “Halloween Haunt” at a regional amusement park, UMW’s Cross Cultural Barbeque, and monthly InterLink Coffee Hours.
