International Degree-Seeking Applicants

•Apply to UMW through the Undergraduate Admissions Office (or the Graduate Admissions Office).

•Receive your acceptance letter and pay your enrollment deposit.

•Request your I-20 from UMW.

    • Students requesting a new I-20 should submit the I-20 Request Form and proof of finances showing funds to cover the Estimated Cost of Attendance.  (Deadlines are June 15 to begin studies in the fall semester and October 15 to begin studies in the spring semester.)

 

  • Students transferring from another school in the U.S. should submit the SEVIS Transfer I-20 Form and proof of finances showing funds to cover the Estimated Cost of Attendance. (Deadlines are July 1 for the fall semester and December 1 for the spring semester.)

Information for International Graduate Students

International Exchange Applicants

•Consult your home university coordinator about applying as an exchange student.

  • UMW has exchange programs with the following universities: Lingnan University, MICEFA, University of Reading, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and Universität Erfurt.
  • UMW does not issue I-20s or DS-2019s to  international students in the non-degree status category who are NOT part of an official UMW exchange program.

•Apply directly to CIE by submitting the International Exchange Student Application, along with proof of finance to cover the International Exchange Student Estimated Cost of Attendance. (Deadlines are April 1 to begin studies in the fall semester and October 1 to begin studies in the spring semester.)

•Receive your acceptance letter.

•Your DS-2019 Certificate of Eligibility for J-1 Exchange Visitor Status will be issued upon acceptance of your application.
