The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking
new lands, but in seeing with new eyes.
Seize a new opportunity for cross-cultural engagement. Each semester a new group of international students arrives at UMW. Not only do these students face the challenges of entering a new university, they also face the challenges of dealing with a new culture that is often extremely different from their own.
Through InterLink, UMW students will welcome incoming international students and help ease their transition to campus life. The program will create opportunities for international and internationally-minded American students at UMW to interact on a personal level and develop greater global and cultural awareness.
Each international student will each be “linked” to an InterLink Mentor who will serve as a campus host during their stay in the U.S.
The Center for International Education (CIE) is seeking new InterLink mentors for the 2015-16 academic year. Interested students must submit the on-line Interlink Mentor Application no later than July 1, 2015. Students selected to serve as mentors will be notified on an ongoing basis. Learn more about what it takes to be an InterLink mentor.
Mentors will move in to UMW housing on Sunday, August 16 and will be eligible for three meals a day at Seacobeck from Monday, August 17 until classes begin. Please review the International Student Arrival & Orientation Schedule for the activities in which your participation is expected. All Mentors must attend an Orientation on Sunday, August 16 in Lee 412 from 4:00-10:00pm. Pizza will be served.
