The International Living Community (ILC) is a conceptual living community whose objective is to develop and share international interests and raise cultural diversity awareness on campus.
ILC is located in Framar House and each year it is home to some exchange and international students as well as other globally-minded UMW students. Though ILC is a residential program, all UMW students are welcomed to be a part of the international community and take part in ILC programming.
Founded in 1997, ILC has a rich history of providing an environment through which individuals are able to explore different cultures and share their findings with other students. It also provides a residential place on campus for students to focus on international interests alongside others that share similar interests. One of the goals of the ILC is to educate the campus on worldwide issues and it plays an integral role in providing cultural programming to the UMW community. The ILC is known for hosting annual campus-wide events such as Bhangra Beat and celebrating the Holi festival of colors, as well as smaller in-house events.
